FLCP’s Pre-K and Preschool Program offers engaged learning & fun!
We don’t have to tell you that preschoolers are curious and love to learn about their environment. Our Pre-K and Preschool Programs allow each child to explore and discover at their own pace. We meet each child where he or she is developmentally and personally, offering enriching activities designed to satisfy the curious nature of the children in this group. Children have options within a structured environment and the routine of the day provides security for the children. They are encouraged to try new things while enjoying the activities they know they love. It is this flexibility within structure which lays the foundation for a child’s self confidence while they are involved and having fun.
The teachers of our Pre-K program provide a safe and nurturing environment where children can learn and grow. Developmentally appropriate activities allow children to explore, discover, and grow cognitively, socially, emotionally and physically in a stimulating classroom environment. Classroom staff includes a State of Maine Department of Education certified K-8 teacher.
Teacher-directed activities address different learning styles through a variety of instruction. Daily activities involve a weekly theme, structured circle time, as well as plenty of time to explore during morning and afternoon outside time. Creative learning centers offer hands on activities and encourage independence, self-esteem and self-control. Children learn to work in small groups and with the entire class.
Children learn fundamental Pre-K literacy, science, and math skills derived from the Maine Early Learning Development Standards. We pride ourselves on building a sense of community in every classroom, allowing children to develop important academic, social and emotional skills to last a lifetime.
(*) Special Programs like music & movement and reading/story-telling are included as part of the preschool curriculum.
Because family preferences and lifestyles differ, FLCP has options to accommodate most schedules.
Full Day Preschool and Pre-K (7:30 AM – 5:30 PM)
Preschool: 5 days per week for 3 to 4 year-olds (daily rates available)
Pre-K: 5 days per week for 4 to 5 year-olds (daily rates available)
